FAQs
Q. What is a modular home?
A. A modular home is "stick-built" in a factory.
Because the home is constructed in a controlled manufacturing
environment, work is never delayed by weather, subcontractor no
shows or missing material. Moreover, modular construction techniques
significantly increase the energy efficiency of the home. A quality
control process provides 100% assurance that the home has been
inspected for code compliance and workmanship. In-plan inspectors as
well as independent inspection agencies inspect the home on behalf
of state and local government.
Harvest Builders International uses state-of-the-art computer assisted
design to customize floor plans, thus providing complete design
flexibility.
Q. What's the difference between a manufactured home and a
modular home?
A. Manufactured homes, sometimes referred to as mobile
homes, are another type of building system and are constructed to a
different standard. In contrast, modular and site-built homes are
constructed to the same building code required by state and local
authorities and as a result not restricted by building or zoning
regulations.
Q. How long does it take to build a modular home?
A. Speed and consistent quality are two of the many
advantages of a modular home. A modular home can be constructed in
10-12 days in the factory - a fraction of the time it takes to
site-build a home. Once the manufacturing process is complete,
typically with the interior finish right down to carpets and wall
finish, the units must be transferred to the building site and
placed on its foundation. Normally the home is completed and ready
to live in approximately 6-8 weeks after the order is submitted.
Q. What do modular homes look like?
A. Modular homes look like any other home. Today's
building technology has allowed modular builders to build most any
style of home from a simple ranch to a highly customized
contemporary.
Q. Is financing any different?
A. There is no difference between modular and site
built homes as far as appraisal or financing.
Q. What are some key benefits of modular construction?
A. Modular homes are:
-
Constructed in climate controlled environment
-
Produced using an efficient building process
thus generating less material waste
-
Energy efficient
-
Designed to high quality standards
-
Completed in less time than site-built homes
-
Designed to meet your lifestyle requirements
-
Constructed to meet or exceed local building
costs
